Subscription Terms of Service
Last Updated: 20/11/2025
These Subscription Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you purchase or use a paid Contour plan. They form a contract between you and Contour Agent Ltd.
1. Definitions
- "Contour", "we", "us", "our" – Contour Agent Ltd.
- "You", "your" – the individual consumer who creates an account and/or buys a subscription.
- "Service" – Contour’s AI-powered tools, interfaces and related services, including our web application and APIs we may provide.
- "Subscription" – your paid access to the Service on a recurring basis.
- "User Content" – the text, code, or other content you submit as input to the Service and the outputs generated for you.
- "Third-Party Providers" – service providers we rely on to operate the Service, including Anthropic, Stripe, Resend, Fly.io, cloud hosting and database providers.
2. Our Service
Contour provides an interface that connects to third-party AI models, primarily Anthropic’s Claude models, to generate outputs based on your inputs.
Key points:
- We do not store your prompts or outputs beyond what is technically necessary to deliver the Service (transient processing).
- Some high-level, non-content metadata (e.g., timestamps, success/failure status, error logs) may be stored for billing, security, and abuse prevention.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service. Where we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
3. Third-Party Providers
To deliver the Service, we use Third-Party Providers, including:
- Anthropic – AI model provider;
- Stripe – payment processing;
- Resend – email delivery;
- Fly.io – hosting;
- cloud infrastructure and Postgres database hosting.
We remain responsible for our own obligations under these Terms, but we are not responsible for:
- the availability or performance of Third-Party Providers; or
- changes they make to their own terms or policies.
Our Service uses Anthropic’s Claude models. Your use must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy and Anthropic’s Usage Policy available at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/aup.
4. Eligibility and accounts
You must:
- be 18 or older;
- be a consumer using the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes; and
- provide accurate and complete registration information.
You must not share your login details with others or allow others to use your account. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
5. Licence and permitted use
Subject to these Terms and your payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
You must not:
- resell, rent, lease, or otherwise make the Service available to any third party;
- use the Service to build or train competing AI models or services;
- attempt to derive or extract underlying model architecture, parameters, weights, prompts or source code;
- attempt to derive or extract underlying service's architecture, prompts and source code;
- bypass or attempt to bypass any usage limits, safety or rate-limiting controls;
- use the Service in any way that breaches our Acceptable Use Policy or any applicable law.
6. Acceptable Use
You must comply with:
- our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP); and
- any relevant Anthropic usage rules we reference.
If we believe you are in breach of the AUP or Anthropic’s rules, we may:
- restrict or throttle your access;
- suspend or terminate your account; and/or
- notify Anthropic or relevant authorities where required or appropriate.
7. Payments, billing and renewal
7.1 Pricing and payment
- Prices are shown on our website and may be updated from time to time.
- Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card details.
- You authorise Contour and Stripe to charge your chosen payment method for Subscription fees and any applicable taxes.
7.2 Automatic renewal
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (e.g., monthly) until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time via your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
7.3 Failed payments
If a payment fails, we may:
- retry the charge;
- suspend or limit access to the Service; and/or
- terminate your Subscription.
8. Refunds and cancellations
Because the Service is a digital service that you can access immediately and which consumes non-reversible computing resources, we operate a strict no-refund policy.
By starting to use the Service:
- you expressly request and consent to immediate performance of the contract; and
- you acknowledge that you lose your statutory right to cancel within the usual 14-day cooling-off period under UK (and similar EU) consumer laws, to the extent permitted by law.
We do not provide refunds for:
- partial billing periods;
- unused time;
- unused agent credits;
- dissatisfaction with outputs; or
- termination for your breach of these Terms or the AUP.
Where local law in your country requires a refund in specific situations, we will comply with those mandatory rules.
(See also the separate Refund & Cancellation Policy for a user-friendly summary.)
9. Data, privacy and security
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Key points:
- We do not persistently store prompts or outputs; they are processed transiently for the purpose of generating responses.
- We may store limited, non-content metadata (e.g., timestamps, error codes, usage metrics) for security, billing, and analytics.
- Third-Party Providers (including Anthropic, Fly.io, Resend, Stripe, and database providers) may process data on our behalf under data protection agreements and may transfer data internationally using mechanisms such as SCCs and the Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
You are responsible for:
- ensuring that any personal data you submit as part of your prompts is lawful and appropriate;
- not including special category or highly sensitive personal data unless strictly necessary and lawful.
10. Intellectual property and User Content
- You retain ownership of your User Content (both inputs and outputs), subject to any third-party rights.
- You grant Contour a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use your User Content only as necessary to provide and maintain the Service (for example, transient processing, security, and troubleshooting).
Anthropic and other Third-Party Providers retain all rights in their respective models, software, and systems. You acquire no ownership interest in any underlying models or services.
You are responsible for reviewing outputs and ensuring you have appropriate rights to use content generated by the Service in your particular context.
11. AI-specific disclaimers and user responsibility
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, biased, offensive, or harmful.
- The Service does not provide professional advice (including, but not limited to, legal, medical, financial, or investment advice).
- You must not rely solely on AI outputs for decisions with significant consequences (e.g., health, safety, legal or financial decisions).
- You remain solely responsible for:
- verifying the accuracy and suitability of outputs;
- how you use outputs; and
- any actions or inactions you take based on outputs.
Contour does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage resulting from your reliance on AI-generated content.
12. Service availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee:
- uninterrupted or error-free operation;
- specific response times; or
- compatibility with all devices or browsers.
We may:
- perform maintenance (scheduled or emergency);
- modify or remove features;
- change usage limits or pricing.
Where changes materially affect your use of the Service, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you in advance.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service (in whole or in part) immediately if:
- you breach these Terms or the AUP;
- your use threatens the security, integrity, or availability of the Service;
- we are required to do so by law or by a regulator; or
- our relationship with a key Third-Party Provider (such as Anthropic) is terminated or restricted in a way that affects your access.
If we terminate without cause, we may at our discretion provide a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your Subscription, where permitted by law. We are not required to provide a refund where termination is due to your breach.
On termination:
- your licence to use the Service ends; and
- we may delete or anonymise any remaining account-level personal data, in line with our Privacy Policy and retention obligations.
14. Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Contour from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- your use of the product;
- your breach of these Terms or the AUP;
- your misuse of the Service; or
- your violation of any law or third-party rights in connection with your use of the Service.
15. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Contour will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities; and
- Contour’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service and these Terms is limited to the amount of Subscription fees you paid to Contour in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory statutory rights.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or through the Service. The updated Terms will apply from the date they are posted or notified.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should cancel your Subscription and stop using the Service.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in another country, you may also bring claims in your local courts under mandatory consumer protection laws.

- use the Service in a lawful, responsible, and honest way;
- respect the rights and safety of others;
- comply with applicable laws; and
- comply with this AUP and any additional rules notified to you.
2. Strictly prohibited uses
You must not use the Service to:
2.1 Illegal activities
- break any applicable law or regulation;
- facilitate money laundering, fraud, or other criminal activity;
- assist in evasion of law enforcement.

- generate detailed instructions for hacking, exploiting, or compromising systems;
- bypass security measures or access credentials;
- conduct phishing or other deceptive practices.
2.5 Disinformation, impersonation and manipulation
You must not:
- impersonate individuals or organisations without consent;
- generate or distribute intentionally deceptive or misleading content at scale (e.g. political disinformation campaigns);
- create deepfakes or synthetic content that a reasonable person would be likely to mistake for a real person without clear labelling.
2.6 Surveillance, profiling and biometric analysis
You must not use the Service to:
- track or profile individuals in ways that invade privacy;
- conduct biometric identification or infer sensitive attributes (e.g. race, religion, health status) from images or other data;

2.7 High-risk use cases (including robotics and physical systems)
You must not use the Service, or any code or outputs generated by the Service, for:
- medical diagnosis or treatment decisions;
- financial, tax, or investment decisions without independent verification by a qualified professional;
- legal advice or decisions;
- safety-critical or high-risk systems, including (without limitation) any system where failure or malfunction could reasonably be expected to result in death, personal injury, serious property damage, or significant environmental harm; or
- designing, testing, or deploying software that directly controls or influences the behaviour of robots, robotic systems, industrial machinery, drones, autonomous vehicles, or any other physical systems capable of causing bodily injury or material damage, where such software is not subject to thorough independent human review, safety analysis, and testing in an appropriate offline or simulated environment before any real-world use.
AI outputs must always be treated as experimental and must not be relied on as the sole basis for decisions or designs involving safety-critical or physical systems. You remain fully responsible for validating any AI-assisted code, including comprehensive testing, code review, and safety checks before deployment.
2.8 Model misuse, safety circumvention and system interference
You must not, whether intentionally or unintentionally, attempt to bypass or interfere with the safety, security, or operational integrity of the Service or any underlying AI models. This includes, without limitation:
(a) Safety bypass & jailbreak attempts
- attempting to "jailbreak", override, or disable model safety features, guardrails, filters, or content restrictions;
- prompting or engineering inputs for the purpose of causing the model to behave outside its intended design or safety parameters;
- using multi-step, obfuscated, recursive, role-playing, or adversarial prompting to induce disallowed behaviours.
(b) Model extraction & reverse engineering
- attempting to derive, reverse engineer, extract, reconstruct, or approximate the parameters, weights, architecture, training data, prompts, safety system behaviour, or other confidential aspects of any model used by the Service;
- using systematic queries, large-scale sampling, or output analysis to approximate or replicate any underlying model.
(c) Abuse of access limits
- circumventing or attempting to circumvent any usage limits, rate limits, authentication mechanisms, billing controls, quota controls, or session boundaries;
- using proxies, multiple accounts, shared login credentials, or automated tools to evade usage controls or access restrictions.
(d) Interference with infrastructure
- interfering with, probing, or attempting to probe the Service or its infrastructure (including Anthropic’s APIs) to detect vulnerabilities, weaknesses, or security gaps;
- launching or participating in denial-of-service attacks, resource exhaustion, or any activity designed to degrade performance or availability.
(e) Misuse of outputs to train other models
- using outputs from the Service to train, improve, or enhance any machine learning model or dataset, including models that compete with or replicate the capabilities of Anthropic’s models or Contour;
- building derivative models or datasets that materially depend on systematic or automated use of the Service.
(f) Automation for circumvention purposes
- using bots, scripts, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated tools to manipulate, stress-test, or systematically harvest outputs in ways that could undermine model safety, violate rate limits, or replicate the model.
(g) Harmful prompt engineering
- designing prompts or workflows intended to generate harmful, high-risk, or prohibited outputs using techniques such as adversarial prompts, indirect instructions, or obfuscation.
(h) Any activity contrary to Anthropic’s usage rules
- any behaviour that violates Anthropic’s published safety standards, usage policies, red lines, or restrictions, regardless of whether such behaviour is explicitly listed in this AUP.
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably suspect attempts to circumvent safety systems, extract model information, or misuse the Service in ways described above.
3. Content standards
When using the Service, you must ensure that any content you submit or generate:
- is lawful and does not infringe third-party rights (e.g. copyright, privacy, confidentiality);
- does not contain personal data of others unless you have a lawful basis;
- does not contain highly sensitive personal data unless strictly necessary and lawful.
We encourage you to avoid inserting personal data into prompts wherever possible.
In addition to this AUP, you must comply with Anthropic’s current Usage Policy and other applicable terms when you use the Service. Where this AUP is stricter, this AUP prevails for your relationship with Contour.
4. Enforcement
We may monitor usage (including non-content metadata and, where necessary, sampled content) to enforce this AUP and protect the Service.
If we reasonably believe you have breached this AUP, we may:
- warn you and ask you to change your behaviour;
- temporarily or permanently suspend your account;
- adjust or limit your access;
- terminate your Subscription; and/or
- where required or appropriate, report the matter to Anthropic, other Third-Party Providers, or law enforcement.
Our decision on whether you have breached this AUP will be final.

3. For what purposes we use personal data
We use personal data for the following purposes and legal bases:
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide and operate the Service | Account creation, delivering responses, running infrastructure | Performance of a contract |

Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: 20/11/2025
This Policy summarises how refunds and cancellations work for Subscriptions to Contour’s Service. It should be read alongside our Subscription Terms of Service.
1. No-refund principle
Contour provides a digital service that:
- is available for immediate use once you subscribe; and
- involves consumption of non-reversible computing resources.
For these reasons, we operate a strict no-refund policy, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
2. Cooling-off and immediate performance
If you are a UK or EU consumer, you may normally have a 14-day "cooling-off" period for online purchases. However:
- by starting to use the Service immediately after purchase, you request immediate performance of the contract; and
- you acknowledge and agree that you will lose your right to cancel and receive a refund once the Service has been fully performed or substantially supplied.
During signup we will clearly inform you that:
- the Service begins immediately; and
- by proceeding, you waive the usual 14-day cancellation right, to the extent allowed by law.
3. When we do not provide refunds
We do not provide refunds for:
- partial billing periods;
- unused time, credits, or features;
- dissatisfaction with outputs;
- changes in your circumstances or needs;
- termination or suspension due to your breach of our Terms or AUP.
4. When we may provide refunds
In limited cases, and at our discretion or where required by law, we may provide a partial or full refund, for example if:
- we terminate your Subscription without cause; or
- a payment is made by mistake and you notify us promptly.
If we provide a refund, it will usually be processed back to the original payment method via Stripe.
5. Cancelling your Subscription
You may cancel your Subscription at any time via your account settings.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
- You will retain access until that date.
- No further renewal charges will be taken.
To avoid being charged for the next billing period, you must cancel before the renewal date.
